In Motion SUMMER Dance Classes and Camps!
We must have 5 students before the first class in order to keep it on the schedule.  

You may sign up for these camps at our dress rehearsals on Wed., Thurs., and Friday at the State Office Building... beginning at 4 p.m.

Payment for at least 1/2 of the class must be received before the first day.  Balance MUST be paid by the 2nd class.  

June – 4 weeks
4 week classes, 1 hour each - $35!!!

Course Descriptions:

Pre-School – All pre-school level classes are designed for students ages 3 & 4.  These classes introduce our young students to what dance class is all about.  It gives them the independence and all the discipline needed in preparation for Kindergarten and Beginning levels of dance.  All music is age appropriate and the style of teaching is designed for pre-school ages.   Our combo class will touch on ballet, tap, jazz, and creative movement. Children should wear any dance apparel with their hair up with tap and ballet shoes.  We encourage you to put your child’s name inside their shoes.  15 students

Ballet 1a & 1b – Beginning level ballet. This class is designed for students ages 5-9 who are coming out of the pre-ballet program, are currently enrolled in 1a & 1b, or are new to Ballet.   Students will learn and practice leg and arm positions, basic terminology at the barre, address parallel and turn-out, practice steps in center and do progressions.   There is an emphasis on vocabulary. Students should wear black leotards and pink tights.  During hot weather, bare legs with TIGHT FITTED DANCE shorts only will be allowed.  No skirts. Students should have pink leather ballet shoes. Hair should be worn in a bun for all ballet classes. 15 students

Ballet 2/3 – This ballet class is for the advanced beginner ballet student. These students are generally ages 7-12 and have been in beg. Level ballet classes 3-5 years.  Students will practice the basic ballet steps/terms with an emphasis on execution and correct placement.  There will be strength and stretch exercises as well as the opportunity to work on combinations in center and across the floor.  Students should wear black leotards and pink tights.  During hot weather, bare legs with TIGHT FITTED DANCE shorts only will be allowed.  No skirts. Students should have pink leather ballet shoes.  Hair should be worn in a bun for all ballet classes.   15 students

Tap 1 – Beg. Tap 1 teaches students ages 5-9 the very basic tap steps which are the foundation for upper levels of tap.  The percussive sounds of tap will help build strength in the legs/ankles.   Students will learn vocabulary for steps that travel as well as steps in center.   The emphasis will be on terms as well as executing with the appropriate sounds for each step.  Black shorts/capris/dance pants, leo or tank tops, tap shoes. Please do NOT wear pajamas or gym shorts to class.  Hair should be worn up.  15 students 

Tap 2 – This class is designed for students that have excelled in tap 1 as well as students that are currently enrolled in Tap 2.  Students will be challenged with speed.  Also, skills will increase in difficulty and in patterns and new steps.  Ages for this level should be approximately 7-12.  Black shorts/capris/dance pants, leo or tank tops, tap shoes. Please do NOT wear pajamas or gym shorts to class.  Hair should be worn up.   15 students 

Jazz 1Jazz 1 allows students to explore large motor skills combined with the technical dance skills needed to turn, leap and more.  Students will be working on strength and stretch and more while listening to fun, high energy music.  Students in level are generally 5-9.  Black shorts/capris/dance pants, leo or tank tops, and laceless black jazz shoes. Please do NOT wear pajamas or gym shorts to class.  Hair should be worn up.   15 students

Jazz 2 – The next level in Jazz will utilize the skills from Jazz 1 in combinations in center and across the floor.  Students will work on a mini dances each week.  Skills and speed will increase.  This level is designed for ages 7-12 approximately. Black shorts/capris/dance pants, leo or tank tops, and laceless black jazz shoes. Please do NOT wear pajamas or gym shorts to class.  Hair should be worn up.   15 students

Leaps, Jumps, and TurnsLevel 1 – must have at least 3 years of beginning level ballet, lyrical, or jazz or Petite Company members.   Level 2 – must have at least 5/6 years of ballet, lyrical, or jazz or Jr.-Sr. Company members.
            Both levels will focus on the strength needed for good leaps, turns, and jumps and will spend the hour perfecting technique and practicing various aerial movements and turns.   We ask that students wear tights and leotards or leos with dance shorts – NOT GYM Shorts.   15 students in each level

Hip Hop – Join Shereen while we hip and hop to fun groovin’ music!  Students will learn small chunks of choreography each week as well and work on strength and stretching.  This class is all about fun and precision.  Learn to dance together with a group, changing formations, and having fun!  Ages 7-11.  Please wear jazz/dance sneakers.  Dress for dance and hip hop. Clothing may be a little baggy but not impeding movement, must be safe. Pants must stop at the ankle and not touch the floor.    15 students

Performance Plus! -  This class is specifically designed for students in the Company Stars.   Miss Lauren will address techniques, energy,  and facials to help enhance any dance performance.   15 students

1 week dance camp – 15 kids – level 1 – must have ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes.  Must pack a snack and drink and water!!  We will have water available in the studio as well.  Students will get coloring pages and will work on ballet, jazz, tap, and more during the 2 hour block of time as well as have a 15-20 min. snack break.  15 students

Stretch/Strength – This class will solely be working on movements and exercises that will stretch and strengthen your dancer.  Please dress appropriately for floor movement as well.   15 students
