Nutcracker
Dancers
Attendance Policy
*1 absence on
a choreography/learning day – must catch up by scheduling a private lesson at the availability of
an instructor at a private lesson rate (rates are listed in the green In Motion
brochure).
*2 absences on
a choreography/learning day – rehearsal director has the option of recommending the dancer attend
a make-up class or recommending the dancer bow out. This will be a case-by-case basis; based on prior
knowledge of the choreography or lack thereof, ability to learn material
quickly, and technical strength.
It is ALWAYS helpful to find
others from the group that can help a dancer catch up BEFORE the next rehearsal. We recommend this for upper levels and
older students.
*3 absences
during choreography/learning days – immediate dismissal from the production.
When a particular dance has
been completely taught and it has now entered the “cleaning” and “rehearsing”
stages, attendance is still important.
Many times there are groupings and spacings that become difficult to
practice without 95% or better attendance. When an absence happens during this phase – it will be
dealt with only on a case-by-case basis by the rehearsal directors. Students may be able to continue working in a dance if they
have demonstrated definitive knowledge of the choreography at the next
rehearsal.
