It's official we are now taking registrations for 2 new classes!
1 - starts Monday, Oct. 17 - "Music, Movement, and Verse" for ages 2 and 3 led by Christy McPherson. Mrs. McPherson is a certified NYS teacher in K-6 and 7-9. Course description: Explore language, movement and music through the seasons. Be ready to giggle, sing and dance with developmentally appropriate songs and poems. Classes are flexible to meet students developmental needs, interest and experiences. This class will meet on Mondays 10-10:30 - space is limited. If we fill, we'll start a list for a 2nd class.

2 - Hip Hop 1 - ages 7-11 on Wednesdays 5:45-6:30 with Allison Bowman starting in November - need 5 students to start!

Musical Theater!!

Come see what all the fuss is about!! Musical Theater classes begin Wednesday, Sept. 14! 5:30-6:30 ages 7-11/12 years old may dance with Shawna Hallinan. Fall into Dance!

It's that time of year... with Fall just around the corner and back to school sales upon us, you may want to consider registering your child for their extracurricular activities. If you are thinking about dance, we ask you to give In Motion a try. We are setting tentative dates and times for our Open House and Registration dates. We invite you to come in and talk to our staff, view the studio, and register for classes. If you are a returning student who has not yet registered, you will want to do so quickly! Classes are filling and closing out, waiting lists have begun to take shape. Our staff is always excited to see new and old faces and look forward to offering your child a quality dance program. We're not just creating dancers here... we are shaping young minds and bodies for the future. Many aspects of taking a dance class can be applied later in life! We encourage you to research the studio you choose for your child. Making sure staff are prepared to teach dance and have experience to draw on is a plus. Ask around - word of mouth is sometimes your best informant. We are confident that you will be happy with the instruction at In Motion. Our studio offers structured classes with a warm atmosphere. Stretch, Tone & Technique

Miss Shawna Hallinan will be offering Stretch, Tone, and Technique classes over the month of July. These classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students may sign up and pay for all hours, for one day each week, or for the first hour of each day - you can mix it up! If you are interested, please sign up and pay before the first class. The studio is open Tuesday, 6/28 4:15-7:15. If you absolutely cannot make it... please contact Shereen ASAP!!

Shawna will be stretching and strengthening your kids! They will also get a dose of lots of styles of dance - musical theater, jazz, basic dance technique, ballet... if she thinks it will benefit these kids...they'll work on it! Learn lots and have fun!

Summer classes

June has been a great month of dance! We've met many new faces and enjoyed sharing our love for dance with all of them. Our pre-school classes ended up filling completely! We're very excited about with this may mean for our Fall program!

We started an interest list for pre-school and beginning 1 level classes for July and had an overwhelming response. If you are interested in a class - please contact us ASAP! We will be putting a new schedule together by Monday, June 27 at 4:00. Check back here or come to the studio to sign up beginning at 4:15.

Shawna's Stretch and Tone classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays will definitely run! Teen tap may not - if this is something you have considered be sure to contact us now!

Interested in some private instruction - maybe looking to get some extra technique or even a little catch up work...? Let us know - we have teachers willing and available to work with your child. Solo spots for Fall are limited but also available.

Recital Information
Please arrive 30 min. before curtain and check in with an In Motion Backstage Staff.
- 12:00 – arrive at 11:30 – S.O.B. garage open after 10:15 AM
- 3:00 – arrive at 2:30
- 6:00 – arrive at 5:30

Meet on the stage for the traditional “pass the squeeze” 15 min. before curtain.

*Stars Company will use the Dressing Room on Stage L, Recreational Classes will use the Dressing Room on Stage R.

*If you have costume changes – please stay backstage in the dressing room – there will be monitors provided for your convenience.

*Students not changing will be seated, in costume, in the section of seating on the Stage R side of the auditorium. An In Motion staff member will bring each dance backstage 3-4 dances before they go on. Pre-school parents with shoe changes – you may want to be nearby. ☺

*Pre-schoolers may sit with parents when they are finished. Bring them back to their seats by #15 for 12:00 show for bows. All other students may be picked up from their seats at the conclusion of “Thriller.”

St. John Bosco Pre-school

Shereen offers Creative Movement for the St. John Bosco preschool program at IHC Primary School on Winthrop St. in Watertown. There is space available still for the 2011-2012 academic year. The afternoon Nursery school (3 yr. old class) is the only area where space is available so if you are interested contact the school now! You may schedule a visit during school hours to see the classroom in action. This program prepares students for school. It is not a playgroup. If you are interested please call the school office at 7880-7011 today! :)

 And... Just to note...  Pajama Jam was .5 from winning the Jr. X-Calibur award which is awarded to the highest scoring dance act 12 & under!! So close guys!! Great job!! Great energy!!  We need to channel that energy into all our dances.. It was so fun to watch! Nice work on the props Tricia!  : )

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 9

NO DANCE TODAY/ToNIGHT - WATERTOWN CITY SCHOOLS are doing EARLY DISMISSAL!!

yes...another WEdnesday!! This happened to us a few years ago too. We're all disappointed however, safety first! We WiLL do make-ups for today's classes once Winter has gone for good! Look for information on make-up classes in March.

Be sure to continue to check here, our blog, our answering machine, emails, WWNY, WWTI, and the major FM radio stations for any closings or cancellations. I am at this time anticipating that we will be closing tomorrow so make sure you are prepared for this and for staying safe with your families! I am watching the weather for tonight and hoping that we will be able to get classes in. Stay safe!

End of January Updates

- billing statements have been distributed in everyone's file folders! These may not necessarily include costume balances, January, or competition fees (unless you had any previous balances...in which case these items will be listed too). If you do not have a statement in your folder then you are up to date!

- February is almost upon us! Continue to be aware of our procedures for cancellations due to inclement weather: WWNY, WWTI, radio, blog, Facebook, emails, and our answering machine.

- The Costume Blog will be update over the next 3 days for your convenience. Here we will try to post as many of the pictures as we can, list the shipping dates, arrivals when they come in, and any other necessities (shoes, tights, etc)

- Needing another Nutcracker video... we will sell copies for just 2 more weeks... please leave something IN WRITING in the office! You will need a form filled out!

- We are doing a small order - 12 - of Nutcracker Cast shirts - if you still wanted/needed one, be sure to get in touch with Shereen to let her know: Short sleeve/Long sleeve

- Company Stars - stage rehearsal on 2/12!! don't forget!

- February Break begins on 2/20 and ends 2/27. The studio will be CLOSED during those dates while we install a brand new sprung sub floor system and a new vinyl floor. We will be moving our black vinyl floor from the back room into the front studio to enable us to have tap and pointe safely in both rooms! This is very exciting!

- Company Stars and NNY All Starz Hip Hop dancers will be competing at Dance Xplosion during the weekend of 3/4!! Check back here for details! Free admission... we encourage you all to come and support our dancers!

- Tentative date for dancing at Ives Hill Retirement Community... Sunday, April 10?? - recreational students (smaller groups), solos, duos, pre-school... We'll keep you posted

Welcome 2011!!

2011 is upon us! Back to dance time! Regular classes begin this evening at the studio.

Substitute teachers will be in Ballet 2/3 - Tuesday this week, Jazz 2/Ballet 2 - Wednesday 2 weeks, Thursday classes with Allison for 2 weeks. Ballet at 5:30 will be combine class for 2 weeks with Kayla. Jazz 3 will combine with the Teens if a sub is not available.

Costumes have been ordered. Please continue to check information on those by going to "view my profile" and choosing the "Costume Blog" option.
