Recital Details


Recital Details:

Who:  Your child should be there on time with their costume, accessories, tights, and appropriate dance shoes. We ask that parents be there to watch your child during all rehearsals.  During recitals we will have staff backstage and in the dressing rooms. If 1 parent per class would like to volunteer to help in the dressing room – please let us know.

WHAT:  In Motion School of Dance 13th Annual Recital!  J

WHEN #1:   Dress Rehearsals Tue.-Wed. – May 28-30 – specific times can be found on our website and blog if you need to double check.  Please be sure to arrive early as the allotted times are the times your child is needed ON the stage.  Thank you!

WHEN #2:   Recitals: Friday, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 1 @ 1 and 6:00 p.m. 

Where:  State Office Building Auditorium, Washington St., Watertown, NY – for all rehearsals and recitals


What you need to know:
-       parking – the parking garage is open only after 4:00 p.m. dress rehearsals and Friday night recital.  You may want to allow yourself extra time for any parking on streets or adjacent community parking lots.
-       Costumes – are only to be worn when awaiting to dance for rehearsal or on show night. NO COSTUMES will be allowed during the warm-up times before the show.  After the show – they are yours to keep and play with. J
-       Video – We will provide a DVD for those that are interested in purchasing. Anyone may video on their own if they wish.  Nutcracker is the only thing we prohibit filming of to protect the choreography.
-       Photography – We hope to have recital portraits available to hand back by this time.  If you would like to take pictures of your child we encourage you to do so.  Rehearsal – Flashes are allowed. We will give you 1-2 min. after each dance.  NO FLASHES during the recitals on Saturday please.
-       Students under the age 10 are allowed back in the audience with you – NOT IN COSTUME please after they finish dancing. We try to run a professional show for families and the general public and this helps us to do so. Be backstage for 5 dances before bows to participate.
-       Students 10 & over must stay in the dressing rooms with In Motion Staff.
-       It must be quiet backstage during recitals at all times.
-       Please try to keep your exits/entrances into the dressing rooms and auditorium between dances.
-       We ask people to not leave their seats to take photos from the orchestra pit area during performances – this can be very distracting to all ages as well as audience members.
-       This will be our last year providing NO ADMISSION FEE to our families!! Invite as many friends and family as you’d like. The more the merrier! J There are many costs involved that continue to rise each year to bring a professional show to you.  We promise that tix for future recital will be very reasonable but take advantage of this free show while you can! J
-       You may register for any available summer classes at Dress Rehearsals.
-       You may sign up for a registration appointment for fall session at Dress Rehearsal.  Please let us know what type of dance you are looking at for the ’13-’14 season so we can be sure to have recommendations ready for you.
-       Raffle baskets will be available as well as Pancake breakfast tix for our Company Stars.
-       On rehearsal nights you should find which dressing room your child is assigned to for the show. This is strictly the room in which we need to get them from for line-ups. If you have siblings split between dressing rooms, please feel free to dress them together but have them report to their appropriate side when needed.
-       All dancers must be in their dressing rooms 5 DANCES BEFORE they go on the stage as well as 5 DANCES BEFORE the BOWS at the end of the show.
-       Pre-schoolers will receive certificates on-stage about 10-11 dances into the program. We invite them to stay if they are up for it for bows, that is not necessary however. J
